A Brief Introduction

Spaloo is a family owned and operated business founded by Bruce and Kate Santhuff in 2005. Headquartered in Wilmington North Carolina, Spaloo's mission is two-fold; first, to maximize the health and hygiene of every person and two, to offer a sustainable luxury product that is affordable.

Bidet toilets (also known as "washlets") are embedded in Eastern culture and the standard in over 200,000,000 Asian locations. An early iteration of the "washlet" was invented in the United States in 1965 but the patent was purchased by a Japanese company who dramatically enhanced the functionality and design. Spaloo is one of the US's first modern adaptations of that technology and takes its name from the words "spa" and the quirky yet classic British term 'loo'.

Bruce Santhuff worked as a location sound recordist for television for two decades. While working on a TV assignment in Japan honoring the 50th anniversary of the armistice between the US and Japan after WW II, Bruce experienced the "washlet" in his hotel room. Since that day, he and his wife Kate have been determined to bring the tradition and its multiple health benefits to the US.
